AMERICAN RV PARK:
VETERAN OWNED & OPERATED

Experience RV Camping Near Theodore Roosevelt National Park
Stay at American RV Park, the 2025 Hipcamp Best in State Award winner and a convenient home base for exploring western North Dakota. Just minutes from Dickinson and the badlands of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, you’ll be close to colorful canyons, rugged buttes, scenic drives, and wildlife—including bison, wild horses, and prairie dogs. Spend your days hiking painted trails, cruising the scenic loop, or venturing south to White Butte, North Dakota’s highest point.
American RV Park is not the attraction—the adventures beyond it are. If you’re looking for a resort-style RV park packed with amenities and entertainment, this is not the place for you. What you’ll find is a safe space in a small town to rest after a full day of exploring. We keep our rates affordable at $30/night for a back-in site and $40/night for a 100-ft pull-through site. We do not make money on the park and have gravel upgrades planned for next year, as we can afford it. While we both work full-time jobs, we do everything we can to ensure our guests have what they need. We are always a text or a call away!
Also, enjoy Friday steak night at South Heart’s I Don’t Know Bar, which is just a short walk from the park. Pheasant Country Golf Course, which is less than a mile from the park, offers outdoor seating and a variety of food and drinks, along with a golf simulator. Adventure by day and a good night’s rest—that’s how we welcome you to the real North Dakota.
LOCATED IN THE HEART OF WESTERN NORTH DAKOTA, JUST MINUTES FROM THE AMENITIES DICKINSON HAS TO OFFER AND NOT TOO FAR FROM SEVERAL OTHER ATTRACTIONS, INCLUDING THEODORE ROOSEVELT NATIONAL PARK, LAKE SAKAKAWEA, AND WHITE BUTTE.
ShoRT DRIVE TO Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the State's Highest Point.

From tranquil lakeside mornings at Lake Sakakawea and visiting North Dakota's highest "peak" at White Butte, just south of the RV park to Badlands adventures at Theodore Roosevelt National Park just to the west, this whole area is a place where memories are made. American RV Park park isn’t just a stop along the way — it is your gateway to North Dakota’s most stunning landscapes. Come for the views, stay for the experience of the area, and leave feeling refreshed, inspired, and ready for your next great adventure with full hookups at each site.

American RV Park is a simple, small town, no-frills place to park your rig while exploring western North Dakota. We’re minutes from Dickinson and an easy drive from Theodore Roosevelt National Park, with groceries, coffee, wide-open skies, and beautiful sunsets all within reach. Head south and you’ll find White Butte, the highest point in North Dakota—though we’ll admit our “high point” is still a little lower than Montana’s. We like to think the views and possibilities stretch just as far.
As a veteran-owned and operated park, we keep things straightforward: a clean site, full hookups, and a fair price. This park isn’t a money-maker for us—it simply pays its own bills. We intentionally keep our rates at just $30 per night for a back-in site and $40 per night for a pull-through because we want to give fellow veterans and travelers a safe and affordable place to stop and rest.
To be clear, this is not a resort-style RV park. We do not have Wi-Fi, showers, laundry facilities, a pool, or organized activities. Our sites are grass, and the picnic tables we once had were destroyed by last year’s tornado. A dumpster is available on the north side of the property and is emptied every Monday and Friday. We also have two long-term renters in a separate area away from the nightly sites.
If you’re looking for luxury amenities and a resort experience, this is not the place for you. But if you want an affordable, peaceful place in a small town—close to everything you need and right down the road from some of North Dakota’s best scenery—pull in, settle down, and fly your flag with us. We’ll save you a spot.

'I DON'T KNOW' BAR BLOCKS AWAY
Back-In Sites 1-8 feature 50 and 20 amp, so if your RV requires a 30 amp connection, you will need a 30 amp adapter. Menard's is just seven miles east right off the interstate, and sells them for $12-$13.
Pull Through Sites 9-12 feature 20, 30, and 50 amp connections, so no adapter is needed. If your water is not on at these pull-through sites, note they are frost-free spigots, so push and turn slightly clockwise to turn on the water.
All of our sites offer power, water and sewer hookups. For your convenience, a dumpster is available on the north end of the driveway.
Nothing brings people together like good food! Come hang out with the owners and fellow campers when BBQs are scheduled—just bring a chair, your favorite beverage, and an appetite for good grub, good music, and good conversation!
Need a quick snack or supplies? A well-stocked convenience store (Heart Country Gas Station) is only a couple blocks away, offering fuel, soda, coffee, treats, and miscellaneous essentials. Open weekdays, limited hours Saturday, and closed Sunday.
Conveniently located within walking distance from the park, the popular I Don’t Know Bar provides a covered outdoor seating area, Friday steak nights, excellent lunch and dinner selections, refreshing beverages, and on-site gaming.
